Music Therapy

Enacting dynamic change with technology and creativity

Herron’s Bachelor of Science in music therapy is an American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) approved degree program that instills students with the musical, technical, and therapeutic skills required to pursue professional careers in the thriving allied health profession of music therapy.

As a music therapy major, you will engage in traditional academic music studies (e.g., music theory, aural skills, music history), piano, voice, guitar, percussion, improvisation, music technology, psychology, and music therapy courses.

Graduates of the program take the national certification examination administered by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT). After passing this exam, you'll be a board-certified music therapist prepared to leverage music within a therapeutic context to help individuals enact dynamic change in their lives.

I’m really excited about the depth of the program that we have built here. Social justice tenants are built into every aspect of the course, and technology sits at the center.
