Established in 1922, Herron's Saturday School offers high-quality art instruction to children and adults who want to learn or improve their technical skills, explore new art forms, and build a portfolio.
Saturday School is held in October and April. Enrollment is divided into four categories: students in grades 1 through 4, students in grades 5 through 8, students in grades 9 through 12, and ages 18 and up. Fall 2023 and spring 2024 registration is now open.

Each semester's Saturday School classes are as follows:
Fall and spring classes are held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for students in grades 1 through 8, and from 1 to 4 p.m. for students in grades 9 through 12 and ages 18 and up.
All sessions will take place in Eskenazi Hall, 735 W. New York St., on the IUPUI campus.

While completing the online registration form secures a student's spot in a summer session, enrollment is not guaranteed until full payment is received.
Scholarships: Scholarships are available for students in grades 1 through 12. To apply, complete our online scholarship application form.
Discounted rates: All sessions are discounted for IU affiliates and Indiana educators. Please email sschool@iupui.edu for the discount code.
Students in grades 4 or 8 who wish to "test out" of their current grade level and into a higher group should submit a portfolio of work to sschool@iupui.edu for consideration.
Herron Community Learning Programs will host culminating exhibitions of student work in HR 259 and 269 of Eskenazi Hall as follows.
Private and group art lessons are available during the fall and spring semesters, with scheduling and pricing tailored to each student's individual needs. Please email sschool@iupui.edu if you have any questions.
Eskenazi Hall is located on the IUPUI campus at 735 W. New York St. Check-in for Herron's Community Learning Programs takes place immediately after entering the building's main doors on the west side.
Parking is available in the Sports Complex Garage (875 W. New York St.), adjacent to Eskenazi Hall, or on levels 5 and 6 of the Riverwalk Garage (245 University Blvd.), southwest of the building.
Students in grades 1 through 4 will engage in open-ended art-making using Reggio-inspired strategies that support their creative learning. Participants will work with various 2-D and 3-D media as they paint surreal self-portraits, construct imaginary worlds, create original stories, and curate their own artwork at the culminating exhibition.

Cost: $200 per semester
Students in grades 5 through 8 will explore contemporary art topics and use a variety of 2-D and 3-D media from the viewpoint of future art/design students and professionals. Participants will develop a portfolio of work by learning drawing, illustration, painting, printmaking, designing, building, animation, and documentation processes and techniques.
The projects, techniques, and topics covered in Junior High Studio Art will vary from semester to semester and will be unique to the instructors.

Times: 9 a.m. – Noon
Cost: $200 per semester
Students in grades 9 through 12 will be immersed in sustained creative investigations into traditional and contemporary studio practices through cultural and social lenses. Participants will share their enthusiasm for art-making with their peers, receive individualized feedback on their existing work, and receive instruction on processes and techniques in various media, including drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and 3-D construction.

Times: 1 – 4 p.m.
Cost: $200 per semester
Adults ages 18 and up are invited to Eskenazi Hall on Saturdays for a semester of studio investigations examining traditional and contemporary art-making approaches. Drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, and 3-D construction will be among the processes and techniques introduced to participants.

Times: 1 – 4 p.m.
Cost: $200 per semester
