Career Services

Career development from day one

Herron Career Services provides tailored guidance at all stages of your journey, whether you need assistance strategizing your search for internships or jobs, writing a résumé or cover letter, or applying to graduate schools and professional positions.

With all that Herron has to offer in terms of professional opportunities, you can make your mark before your name is printed on a diploma.

Schedule a career advising appointment

Herron's Office of Admissions and Student Services is dedicated to assisting you in achieving your goals, whether you are a student or an alum. Contact an advisor if you need assistance with professional development resources or career opportunities along the way.

Come to our office on the first floor of Eskenazi Hall, email, or call 317-278-9400 to schedule a career advising appointment.

Current IU students are automatically assigned an account with their primary IU email address. To access Handshake, simply go to the login page and enter your IU credentials.

IU graduates are eligible to join and use Handshake. To gain access to this resource, you must first complete a brief online survey.

Please provide as much information and be as accurate as possible so that we can confirm your IU alumni status. You will be notified of your Handshake account details once we have confirmed your degree.

You must provide a valid, personal email address. Your previous IU email address cannot be used to access Handshake because that account has been deactivated.

After you've created an employer account, posting opportunities to Handshake is simple. To begin, go to the new employer registration page, enter your email address and desired password, and then click Sign Up.

The next step is to connect your profile to your company by entering your work email address. Visit this page on Handshake's Help Center to learn more about best practices, creating a profile, and confirming your email address, as well as other resources.

Take advantage of all the services that are available to you. Attend conferences and apply for travel grants. Get a work-study job. Take a class that seems really fascinating to you even if it might not directly relate to your area of focus. Stay connected.
