Electives for Non-Music Majors

Take music electives

All IU Indianapolis students may enroll in Herron's elective music classes towards completing arts and humanities requirements. Courses provide experiences and insights through listening, written study, and performance of music both past and present. Multiple introductory courses are offered each semester.

These courses typically require modest if any prerequisites. They develop a student's appreciation for the musical art through study of music theory, history, style practice, cultural connections, and performance activities. These curriculums develop critical thinking, cultural understanding, and ultimately prepare individuals to be musically literate citizens.

You must be a current IUI student to enroll in a Herron elective. Tuition and lab fees apply.
