Eight ways to honor our Class of 2022

Herron School of Art and Design's year-end festivities are about more than just the cap, gown, and diploma. As a community of visual arts and design specialists, we have traditionally come together at "Look/See," our biggest night of the academic year, to celebrate our graduating students' creativity, ingenuity, and hard work.

So, what better way to mark the Class of 2022's triumphs than by gathering on campus with friends and family?

Herron's Class of 2022 events and exhibitions, listed below, will be held in person. Mark your calendars and get ready to share your excitement throughout the weekend using the hashtags #HerronIUPUIGrad and #HerronProud on social media.

Thursday, May 12, 4 to 7 p.m. | 16 Tech Innovation District

Herron alumni and design professionals in the Indianapolis area are invited to a reception unveiling seniors' capstone projects in our undergraduate degree program in visual communication design (VCD). This event allows Herron's emerging designers to network and helps launch their careers after graduation.

Friday, May 13, 5:30 to 7 p.m. | Madam Walker Legacy Center, Theatre

Friends and family members of Herron's soon-to-be graduates are invited to a special in-person ceremony to celebrate the completion of their degrees and the start of their creative careers. This event will include guest remarks, a reading of graduates' names, and an opportunity to share parting thoughts and optimism for the future.

Saturday, May 14 | Michael A. Carroll Stadium on the IUPUI campus + Online
Graduate ceremony at 10 a.m. | Undergraduate ceremony at 4 p.m.

Experience the pomp and circumstance of IUPUI Commencement at Carroll Stadium on Saturday, May 14, in a campus-wide graduation celebration for the Class of 2022. Ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students will occur at separate times on this day.

Herron's VCD seniors have been working hard this semester to complete their capstone projects, which are required to complete their B.F.A. degrees. Friends and family are invited to join in the revelry, mingle with the program cohort, and observe how they use their newly acquired skills to solve design problems.

Saturday, May 14, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. | Basile Auditorium, Eskenazi Hall

Honor Herron's M.A. and M.F.A. graduates after the university-wide conferral of doctoral and master's degrees. During the event, faculty members will individually recognize each master's degree recipient and drape a hood over their heads to symbolize the completion of their two-year studies.

Saturday, May 14, 6 to 8 p.m. | Eskenazi Hall and Eskenazi Fine Arts Center

Join us as we celebrate the conclusion of the academic year and present Herron's student work to the IUPUI community and the public. Explore exhibitions and artwork in the hallways and display cases, enjoy light appetizers and beverages, and meet Indianapolis' emerging visual artists, art educators, art scholars, and art therapists all in one jam-packed evening.
