About

Dr. Shannon McCullough received her Ph.D. from Indiana University in Higher Education, concentrating in educational psychology and learning science. She serves on Herron’s leadership team as the Assistant Dean of Admissions and Student Affairs, providing strategic leadership for the successful design, development, assessment, and implementation of enrollment management functions. Dr. McCullough also holds an associate faculty role in the Art Therapy graduate program, teaching human development theory, serving on the program advisory board, and mentoring students on their research practice. Her academic background is in social-cognitive and developmental psychology, focusing her research around gender and racial disparities in higher education, student leadership and identity development, and mentoring.

Awards + Grants

Dr. McCullough has been on the IU Indianapolis campus since 1999, going from the role of undergraduate student to dean. She is awarded one of the 50 Faces of IUPUI, acknowledging her longtime, multi-faceted service to the campus, influence on student success, and her mark on IU history as a member of the largest graduating class of female PhD students of color in the School of Education, including the establishment of a scholarship in their name for incoming doctoral students.
