About

Lowell Isaac is a lifelong visual storyteller, with experience in film, animation, comics, trading cards, and children’s books. He comes from a family of artists; his grandfather was a potter, and both his father and uncle are painters with BFAs. He studied filmmaking and traditional animation at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and worked in Los Angeles as a storyboard and concept artist for commercial spots, music videos, and independent films. After receiving his BFA from Herron, he worked as a staff illustrator at AuthorHouse Publishing, where he created illustrations for over 600 picture books and novel covers.

Lowell Isaac received his MFA from the University of Hartford, and although he works as a full-time Lecturer at Herron, he continues to pursue a variety of illustration projects. He makes comics and graphic novels, and his work has been published by DarkHorse and IDW. He’s animated sequences for indie horror films, including one produced by Troma Studios. He’s illustrated hundreds of trading cards for the Topps Company, ranging from Mars Attacks and Wacky Packages to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Garbage Pail Kids. He currently resides in Irvington with his wife and three children.
