About

Paula Differding was appointed to the visual communication faculty in 1985. Prior to teaching, Differding was a senior art director at the Indianapolis-based Design Group, Inc. During her 34-year teaching career, she oversaw professional design practice, managed the visual communication department’s internship program, and taught print production and studio design courses.

In addition, Differding served in many administrative roles, including director of the IRIS Center for Digital Arts (1996-2004) and coordinator of the visual communication department (1996-1998). She spent numerous years working at the university level on the Promotion and Tenure Committee, worked extensively with community engaged projects, and guided the student design and production for dozens of local nonprofit projects. She retired in January 2019.

Awards

In 2006, Differding received the Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award for Civic Engagement.
