Finally, I have had a fantastic time working with and learning from Pamela Napier. I had the opportunity to learn about design facilitation and how to be a better instructor during my time as her teaching assistant. She has been the most influential professor for me due to the trust she placed in my work and ideas and the fact that she allowed me to make mistakes and accept my opinions during projects. I want to thank her for helping me through a challenging second year.

HERRON: What is your next step after graduation?

GARCIA: To celebrate and take some steps back to reflect on my experience here. After everything that has happened, I know I need some time to reevaluate some of the things I had planned to do after graduation.

I would like to gain some work experience in the U.S. before going back to Ecuador, but that is not totally within my control. Also, I know I want to pursue a Ph.D. in the near future, so that may be the direction I will take while working.

HERRON: What advice would you give students who who want to pursue a similar career path?

GARCIA: The first thing that comes to my mind is to be aware that you don't have all of the answers. I think this field presents more opportunities when you work alongside other disciplines and are always open to learning. I also believe that it is crucial to be willing to make mistakes as this is the best way to grow in this field.

HERRON: What is the one question you wish we had asked, and what is your response?

GARCIA: I want to close by thanking my family and friends (you know who you are) who sometimes remind me that I can achieve great things. I don't believe that all the time. I love you all!
