As part of her peer influence, Patberg is working to restart activities of a student-run Art Education Association that will help Herron students make the most of their pre-service preparation for teaching. "We would like to find a way to potentially get funding for attending conferences and developing professional skills."

Patberg's involvement in co-curricular activities has even increased her civic engagement through IUPUI's Rho Alpha chapter of Phi Mu, the university's oldest Greek life chapter where she currently serves as president. She clarifies, "Their values – love, honor, truth – aligned with mine." Since joining the fraternity in fall 2015, she has participated in IUPUI's annual Jagathon dance marathon each year to raise money for Riley Hospital for Children.

"My involvement outside of Herron, such as with Phi Mu, has been a major influence on my time spent at IUPUI. I will forever be thankful for attending this university!"
