Social media plays a large role of our intake of visual imagery today. Whether it be Instagram or Facebook people look to their phones to pass the time. Social media has become a type of visual journal, where we can see what others are doing or experiencing in real time. There are millions of people online and most are just searching for some kind of connection, something to relate to. Shaped by the aesthetics of social media, my work emulates the isolation and loneliness that can be present in this search for connection. In using the internet as inspiration, the aesthetics of social media, and the psychology of color and synesthesia my photographs search for an intangible connection with others, by bringing emotions to life in a dream-like place.
