Adult Programs

Art classes for adults 18 years and older

Whether you want to try something new or hone an existing skill, you will find dynamic, university-level instruction in a casual learning environment through Herron’s adult programs.

Adult classes meet on Saturday mornings for four weeks or Wednesday evenings for six weeks in the spring and fall. Summer artist workshops include non-degree and credit bearing programs that range from short 3-hour sessions to 10-day intensive coursework. Students must be 18 years or older to enroll.

Convenient metered parking is available at the Sports Complex Garage adjacent to Eskenazi Hall, and Indygo bus stop is located in front of Eskenazi Hall.

Introduction to 3-D Printing

Learn the fundamentals of 3-D printing in Herron’s state-of the-art Think It Make It Lab with user-friendly software and extrusion/resin based 3-D printers. You will be introduced to the 3-D model making processes including design, file preparation, 3-D scanning, and completing a printed object.

Adult evening classes

Evenings at Herron

Formerly the name of the adult studio program, Evenings at Herron has been transformed into a fun and engaging series of cultural arts learning experiences that range from gallery talks to studio activities.

Artist, art historian, and Herron adjunct faculty instructor Thane Young will be your guide as Herron hosts this series of lectures, discussions, tours, documentaries, and studio fine arts explorations. Artist workshops

Encaustic Wax Methods with Carolyn Springer

The fundamentals of encaustic techniques of painting, collage, and mono printing will include fusing beeswax, pigment sticks, and pigmented wax to create multi-layered works of art.

Students will become knowledgeable in the use of digital imagery, color theory, and transparency/opacity as applied to the properties of encaustic mediums.

This workshop is cross-listed for credit or non-credit enrollment. PGP Points pending. Student is responsible for purchasing all materials required.
