Continuing Studies

Classes and workshops for artists, designers, educators, and community members.

Whether you want to try something new or hone an existing skill, you will find dynamic, university-level instruction in a casual learning environment through Herron’s Continuing Studies program.

Continuing Studies’ Quicktakes (2-6 hour classes) meet every Second Saturday, with longer workshops taking place between. Quicktakes and workshops are offered year-round, with additional course options available during summer*. Convenient metered parking is available at the Sports Complex Garage adjacent to Eskenazi Hall, with an IndyGo bus stop located in front of Eskenazi Hall.

For classes in the Eskenazi Fine Arts Center, on Indiana Avenue, street parking is available near the building.

Laser Engraving


This two day workshop will focus on the use of the laser engraver/cutter as a creative tool. Workshop participants will work with both raster and vector graphics and learn the start to finish process of using this versatile tool for digital fabrication.

Introduction to 3-D Printing


Learn the fundamentals of 3-D printing in Herron’s state-of the-art Think It Make It Lab with user-friendly software and extrusion based 3-D printers. You will be introduced to the 3-D model making processes including design, file preparation and the printing process.

Screenprinting


Learn all about the basics of screenprinting in this two day workshop! You will learn about screen preparation, photographic stencils, printing and mixing inks. All materials are provided, however participants may bring a screen if they wish.

Monotype Printmaking


Explore printmaking’s most painterly process in this two day workshop. Monotype is a very versatile and fluid printmaking process that produces unique single prints. Explore a variety of addictive and subtractive methods for creating imagery, work with multiple plates and layer your prints to create vibrant and colorful works. All materials will be provided.
