Melissa Parrott Quimby is a contemporary visual artist from Indianapolis. She graduated from Herron School of Art and Design in 1995 with a B.F.A. in ceramics and 2003 from the University of Delaware receiving her M.F.A. in ceramics. She has been actively creating and exhibiting her work both regionally and nationally. While pursuing a career as a professional artist she has taught numerous workshops and received a variety of awards including a Creative Renewal Arts Fellowship from the Arts Council of Indianapolis in 2007.
She uses a wide range of media including clay, paper, canvas, and wood to express her ideas intuitively as a response to her environment. She is inspired by pattern, color, line, shape, texture, and form. She is motivated by the nature of material and through an instinctual impulse of combining these concepts she creates abstract images and objects.
