Financial Assistance

Graduate Fellowships

All MFA applicants are evaluated for various kinds of financial aid including Graduate Fellowships. Assignments will enhance the student’s graduate education and experience. Graduate students may be assigned fellowships at any point within their academic career at Herron.

Fellowships will be assigned on a semester basis and may be awarded in addition to scholarships. Any student receiving a Graduate Fellowship will be assigned a Faculty or Herron professional staff mentor/supervisor who will be responsible for providing information and guidance, and for evaluating the performance of the graduate students’ work related to the Fellowship.

Scholarships

Along with the potential of being awarded Graduate Fellowships, MFA applicants will also be considered for annually-renewable scholarships based on their application to the program (in other words, no further scholarship application materials are needed).

Federal aid

Applicants can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Please visit the FAFSA Web site for state and national deadlines. You do not have to be accepted to the MFA program prior to submitting the FAFSA. You may complete a FAFSA application online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

The IUPUI Office of Student Financial Aid Services administers all federal loans. Visit them on the Web at www.iupui.edu/~finaid/ or contact them directly at 317-274-4162 or finaid@iupui.edu.

Health insurance

Health insurance is automatically provided by the university to students who receive a Graduate Fellowship.

A helpful tool for estimating your tuition costs for one semester can be found on the Bursar’s site at http://www.finance-admin.iupui.edu/costestimator.aspx. When using the calculator, please keep in mind that a typical semester for graduate students consists of 15 credit hours.
