Italy - May & June 2009
The three-and-a-half week course will travel throughout Italy with classes held on location in major museums, churches, monuments and archaeological sites. The class will travel to Rome, Pisa, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano, Assisi, and Venice to explore Classical, Byzantine, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Modern art. London, England
A one-credit art history course during spring break to explore museums, galleries and historical sites of London, England. The course includes eight days in London. During leisure time participants will enjoy sampling London's lively theatre and music scene, shopping, sightseeing (Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, etc.), viewing the city from atop the London Eye, or taking a day trip outside the city (e.g., to Oxford, Cambridge, or Windsor Castle). Upon return, students must complete an independent research project based on first hand visual analysis conducted during travel (typically a 5–7 page paper for art history credit; studio projects to be determined in consultation with fine arts faculty.) Grades are determined as follows: 65% class participation, 35% final research project.

France, Pont-Aven
A four or six week summer program in studio art in a variety of media, in conjunction with the Rhode Island School of Design. Transfer credits only. Apply directly to the RISD. For more details, visit the Pont Aven School of Contemporary Art.

Greece
A three- to six-credit hour summer program exploring the art and culture of Greece. Highlights include visits to The Acropolis and National Archeological Museum (Athens) and extended stay on The Island of Paros where we are headquartered at the Aegean Center for the Arts. The Island of Paros provides a spectacular setting to explore artistic themes of time and place. Students engage in extensive hands-on creation of works of art that respond to actual locations during the journey.
