Financial assistance
You may be eligible for a graduate fellowship, scholarship and/or federal aid. Let us know how we can help.
Graduate fellowships
All MFA applicants are evaluated for various kinds of financial aid including Graduate Fellowships. Graduate Fellowships pay $3000 per semester and require the student to work approximately 12 hours per week during the 16-week semester. Assignments will enhance the student’s graduate education and experience. You do not need to submit a separate application for the Graduate Fellowship. Your completed application will be used to determine this merit-based form of financial aid. If you do not wish to be considered for this form of financial aid, please clearly indicate this choice in your statement of intent.
Graduate Fellowships will be assigned on a semester basis and may be awarded in addition to scholarships. Any student receiving a Graduate Fellowship will be assigned a Faculty or Herron professional staff mentor/supervisor who will be responsible for providing information and guidance, and for evaluating the performance of the graduate student’s work related to the Fellowship.
Scholarships
Along with the potential of being awarded Graduate Fellowships, MFA applicants will also be considered for annually-renewable scholarships based on their application to the program (in other words, no further scholarship application materials are needed). Tuition scholarships range from $2,000 to $8,000 annually.
Federal aid
Applicants can complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Please keep in mind that if you are applying for financial aid, the deadline for the receipt of FAFSA is March 10. You do not have to be accepted to the MFA program prior to submitting the FAFSA. You may complete a FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov
The IUPUI Office of Student Financial Aid Services administers all federal loans. Visit them on the web at http://www.iupui.edu/~finaid/ or contact them directly at 317-274-4162 or finaid@iupui.edu
