Visiting artists lecture series

The Visiting Artist Lecture Series informs and enlightens students, faculty, and the community about the world of contemporary art.

Artists, designers, critics and historians from all over the world are invited to speak at Herron, lecturing on their art, writings, or creative research. Visiting artists also work with students in the classroom, present workshops or collaborate on community projects. The series is a vital resource not only for Herron students, but also for anyone in Indianapolis interested in contemporary art.

Past visiting artists and scholars include Janine Antoni, Vija Celmins, Judy Chicago, Sue Coe, Wim Delvoye, Agnes Denes, Patrick Dougherty, The Guerrilla Girls, Robert Indiana, Donald Kuspit, James Luna, Robert Lostutter, Wendy Maruyama, Gladys Nilsson, Julian Opie, Cynthia Pachikara, Alison Saar, Judith Shea, Edward Lucy Smith, Robert Stackhouse, Dr. Halima Taha and Karl Wirsum.

All lectures are free and, unless noted otherwise, take place at Herron in the Basile Auditorium located at 735 West New York Street, on the campus of IUPUI. Please call (317) 278-9423 to confirm dates and times.
