Saturday School
Established in 1922, Saturday School is a ten week visual arts education program offering quality art instruction to youth and adults on Saturdays.
Saturday School classes offer opportunities to improve art skills, try new art forms, and build a portfolio of work. Established in 1922, Saturday School offers quality art instruction to youth and adults during a 10-week semester offered in both spring and fall. Herron's classes take place at Eskenazi Hall on the IUPUI campus, and at Herron's Sculpture and Ceramics building, on the north edge of the IUPUI campus.
Herron alumni and award-winning junior and senior Herron students teach Saturday School classes. Class size is limited to allow for highly individualized instruction in a variety of media including ceramics, photography, drawing, painting and more.
Fall Semester: September 13 through November 15, 2008.
MORNING AND AFTERNOON SESSIONS ARE BACK!Choose from morning and afternoon sessions. Morning classes meet from 9 am to noon. Afternoon classes meet from 1 pm to 4 pm. (Ceramics meets at noon.) Two classes are open to students age 7-11. All other classes are open to students ages 12-18 and adults.
Tuition
Youth tuition is $200. Adult tuition is $225. A discounted rate of $350 is available to individuals taking two classes - one morning AND one afternoon. Availability of classes depends on the number of students enrolled and the availability of instructors. Students register for one class per morning session and/or one class per afternoon session.Lab Fees
Some classes have additional lab fees ranging from $25 to $40. Please see individual class listings. Lab fees may be paid at the time of registration or on the first day of class.Parking
Parking permits are available the first day of classes for a reduced rate of $30 a semester. Note: Parents may wish to drop off/pick up students at Herron’s front circular entrance. Garage parking is also available for approximately $4 each class.Class and Supply Information
Registered students will be sent a confirmation packet approximately two weeks before the start of Saturday School. The confirmation packet will include a map to along with a list of supplies to bring to class, a class syllabus, and an emergency release form.Discounts and Scholarships
Two Class Discount: Individuals enrolled in two classes - one morning AND one afternoon – receive a discounted rate of $350 for two classes.Teacher Recommendation Scholarship: A discount of $30 off the cost of one class per semester is available to students who are recommended by their art teacher or classroom teacher. Check “Teacher Recommendation Scholarship” on the Scholarship Application and return with registration form.
Saturday School Outstanding Student Award Discount: Students presented with a Saturday School Outstanding Student Award from the last year should return their award coupon with registration form to receive a tuition discount for one class.
Tuition Scholarships: Students facing financial challenges or those recommended by local social services agencies may apply for partial or full tuition scholarships. A limited number are available each semester.

Policies
Cancellation or Transfer: If a class is cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be called and may transfer into another Saturday School class.First Class Audit: With permission from the Community Learning Coordinator, a student may attend the first day of any Saturday School class before deciding to officially enroll in the class.
