Mission statement

Herron School of Art and Design provides high-quality education in visual arts and design and prepares students to participate in evolving disciplinary and professional practices while fostering an appreciation of artistic expression for all.

The School's mission is to provide exceptional quality education for college students committed to careers in the visual arts, to increase the visual literacy of students and the community, and instill a greater understanding of the visual arts for non-art majors and the community.

Herron School of Art and Design provides quality education for students committed to careers in the visual arts including ceramics, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, visual communication design, furniture design, art education and art history. Students may earn Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Art Education, Master of Fine Arts, and Master of Art Education degrees. Herron also offers courses for the broader community to provide visual literacy and an understanding of art and design for students who are not majoring in one of Herron’s degree programs.

Programs

Herron provides quality education for students committed to careers in the visual arts. Students may earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics, furniture design, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, visual communication design, Bachelor of Arts degree in art history, Bachelor or Master of Art Education degrees, and Master of Fine Arts in furniture design, printmaking, sculpture or visual communication design.
